Project: Canal Side
- A Quiet Refuge
Our clients' property boasted a canal view, but the towpath left them feeling exposed to passersby. They desired a garden that offered both privacy for entertaining and the ability to enjoy the canal view from their home.
Land Masons designed a tranquil, screened corner featuring solid woodblock benches nestled within geometric raised beds crafted from corten steel. Rich textured planting filled these beds to create an inviting and visually captivating space. A central corten steel firepit mirrored the angles of the raised beds, adding warmth and a touch of industrial chic.
To address the need for privacy, we constructed a sturdy cedar screen along the canal towpath side. Galvanized steel training wires were incorporated, allowing climbing plants to soften its rugged nature once established.
On the opposite side of the garden, a raised cedar deck edged in corten steel provided additional entertaining space. Finally, a bespoke shelter was built, offering a haven for barbequing or simply relaxing and enjoying the canal views, protected from the elements.
The garden was originally exposed and lacked defined areas.
