Project: Pasture House, Broughton Hall Estate
- Garden of Healing
We were commissioned to build this ‘Garden of Healing’, designed by Richard Preston Garden Design. We have a long standing relationship with Richard, entrusting us to realise his plans on many projects.
On this occasion, we built a limestone retaining wall with lime mortar and a reclaimed stone trough from the estate. We paved the perimeter of the building and built two sets of steps with reclaimed stone.
An array of raised beds were set out amongst the beautiful, symetrical stone edged pathways that we made with a slight camber. These lead to the seating circle made from logs and waney edged timber with a sculpture engraved by Gary Breeze in the centre.
Lighting pillars were installed throughout and the area was turfed.
A place to share…
Waney edged timber and logs create the bench.
Stone edgings recycled from broken flagstones mark out the cambered pathways and circle.
Sculpture by Gary Breeze fixed and installed in centre.
Ground preparation and turfing around the circle.
Time for beds…
Ten equally spaced, raised beds, levelled across and filled with soil.
Ground preparation with sand and then turfed.
Cambered pathways edged with recycled broken flags.
