Project: Old Corn Mill
- Industrial Elements
The owners of this lovely historic property, part of an old corn mill complex, were keen to transform the uninspired garden attached to it.
Land Masons set out to breathe new life into the area, creating a contemporary composition using exciting industrial materials to juxtapose against the traditional backdrop. The balance of warm corten steel, rugged cedar planks, and polished concrete would be offset with lush planting beds and a fresh lawn. Responding to the client's desire for defined zones within the garden, we carved out distinct areas for relaxation and entertainment.
Passing through the gateway flanked by jet black contemporary slatted fences, visitors are welcomed by polished concrete stepping stones to guide them across the newly laid lawn, leading to a rugged and chunky cedar deck, perfect for al fresco dining. Turning the corner, we find a cedar bench nestled amidst raised beds beside a corten steel firepit, with space below the bench to store firewood. While the initial design emphasises clean lines, lush planting, strategically placed, will soften the crisp angles and further define the various zones as the garden matures.
The garden was originally uninspired and tired looking.
